maklong atuk

akum aiya, wherever you are. abah pray that youre happy, smiling and healthy beside your mom.

im in kajang now, visiting maklong. maklong is atuk's eldest sister and she's 70+ years old. shes in seremban hospital now cause she had a heart attack. i met her two nights ago and she smiled when she saw me. i went straight to see her at icu from the airport. shes getting better and she might have to be on dialysis like nenek.

as a boy, we used to go back to maklong house in sendayan, negeri sembilan during school holiday, mostly when we were in kajang selangor. maklong's place is cool and atuk even bought a piece of land there, where i planted more than 10 anak pokok durian in 1998. i dont know if they are still alive.

we did all kinds of activities there. i remember squashing a chick accidentally while chasing them all over maklongs house. when paklong was alive, i followed paklong once a while to his orchard. he has a orchard full with nice rambutan and several ponds full with fish. all kinds of outdoor activity for town boy like me.

we also started to learn about riding motorbike at maklongs house. arwah yan, your aunty had her first bike lesson there too. i remember that very moment where she accidentally fell into the dirt when she pressed on the accellerator too hard. i rode behind her and almost fell too.

maklong has a kampung shop. as boys, we used to ask for icecream, air oren kampung (cabonated drinks, local product) and all kinds of juck food. maklong had to entertain us, but i know datuk later on payback maklong what we got form her. the small shop is also a big part of my childhood there. its a graphical memory so to speak. places where i slept, played and practically living our happy childhood with my sibs.

maklong is the coolest aunt in the family. insyaAllah one of these days, when youre back here in malaysia and when maklong gets very much better, ill bring you to see her. splendid trip indeedy.
